Just placed the pre-order

Own Yuki from last year — quality, service and the whole concept won me over. Saw Akatora and ordered straight away. The tiger looks like the boldest insole yet. Expected in about six weeks, no money taken till it ships. Will come back with a real review once it's on my feet.

Check the chart — runs a touch narrow

Went with my usual size, came out slightly narrow across the front. Half size up next time. Worth saying so others read the size guide first. The tiger artwork itself is superb — ukiyo-e style done properly, print is crisp and the leather is the same genuine Italian as the older models.

Tiger over my old Common Projects

I've worn Common Projects for years and got tired of paying €450 for a heel stamp. Akatora is the same clean Italian-leather silhouette at a fairer price, except there's a hidden ukiyo-e tiger nobody else sees until I take them off. Two weeks in, print hasn't moved. This is the one that converted me off CP.

Was nervous about pre-ordering a new design, wasn't necessary

I'd never bought a sneaker before trying it on until MICI. The no-charge-until-shipping thing is what made me risk it again on a brand-new design. Ordered Akatora end of May, arrived mid-June, card charged only when it shipped. Tiger insole is bolder than the koi or goose, leather is identical quality to my Crimson Wave. Zero regrets.

The tiger is a statement

Pre-ordered the day it launched, shoes came last week. The ukiyo-e tiger is the most dramatic insole MICI has done — the orange and the wave detail against the dark background is incredible up close. Same Italian leather as my founding-edition pair. Print is sharp and feels like it'll last. Got three questions about the brand on day one.
